Movie Plot:

Franta Louka, a musician in Soviet-occupied Czechoslovakia, struggles to make ends meet and agrees to marry a Russian woman for money. When she uses him to emigrate to West Germany, she leaves behind her son Kolya who later comes to live with Louka after his grandmother’s death.
