The documentary argues that the Berlin Wall, built on August 13, 1961, was necessary to protect East Berlin from Western influences that were seen as promoting fascism, terrorism, and neo-colonialism. It was made on behalf of the leaders of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) to support their stance on the wall.
