Movie Plot:

In 1950, the dead body of commercial fisher Carl Heine Jr. is found by his crew on San Pedro Island. Kazuo Miyamoto, a Japanese man and former friend of Carl, is charged with his murder, causing tension between the Japanese and Caucasian populations on the island. Local newspaper owner and veteran Ishmael Chambers, who has feelings for Kazuo’s wife Hatsue, becomes personally invested in finding out the truth about Carl’s death amidst existing anti-Japanese sentiment.
