Plot for the movie:

After the death of feudal lord Tadatoshi Hosokawa, his vassals commit seppuku one after the other despite his last wish for them not to. One vassal, Abe Yaichiemon, initially obeys but eventually follows his lord in order to save his family’s honor. This leads to a conflict with the new feudal lord, Mitsunao, and the Abe family’s retreat to their manor.
