Plot for the movie:

Jim Douglas, a struggling race car driver, discovers a magical Volkswagen Beetle that he repairs and names Herbie. As Jim becomes more successful in racing with Herbie, the car’s former owner, Thorndyke, becomes envious and sabotages Herbie before a big race. With the help of his friend and Thorndyke’s ex-girlfriend, Jim must repair Herbie in order to beat Thorndyke and his underhanded tactics.
