The plot follows the struggle of a family, the Abhyankars, who refuse to vacate their flat in Pali Hill that they have rented for 15 years when the owner’s son, Anil, moves to Bombay and falls in love with their daughter, Jaya. As Anil’s father, Kundanlal, wants his son to live with the Abhyankars, they refuse and the families end up in a legal battle.
