Movie Plot:

Lieutenant B.F. Pinkerton and his friend Lieutenant Barton go out for a night on the town in Japan and Pinkerton becomes infatuated with a local girl named Cho-Cho San. Barton suggests that Pinkerton can “marry” Cho-Cho and then easily leave her, as abandonment equals divorce in Japan. Pinkerton leaves and Butterfly, the abandoned “wife,” waits for him for three years before he returns with his new American bride, breaking Butterfly’s heart.
