The matchmaker, Reb Kalman, is tasked with finding a husband for Reb Pinchas’s daughter, Carolina, who is in love with her French teacher, Max. Reb Pinchas becomes furious when he finds Carolina and Max together and becomes more determined to find her a suitable husband. Max hatches a plan to pretend to be Kuni Lemel, a potential match suggested by Reb Kalman, in order to win over Reb Pinchas. However, the real Kuni Lemel shows up
