Plot for the movie:

The Bumsteads receive two letters, one for a high-school reunion dinner and the other for a course on picking race track winners. When Dagwood receives a raise of $2.50 per week, his friends mistakenly believe it is $250 and expect the Bumsteads to foot the bill for the reunion dinner. Chaos ensues as Dagwood gets fired and they become entangled in horse-racing and its associated characters.
