“Fados” is a documentary film by Carlos Saura that showcases the traditional Portuguese music genre of fado through performances by top artists, including young talent Mariza and Grammy award-winner Carlos do Carmo, as well as archival footage of renowned fadista Amália Rodrigues. The film also explores fado’s influences and roots by featuring performances by prestigious Brazilian musicians Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque, as well as emerging Cape Verdean star Lura.
