Plot for the movie:

Amid the ornate baroque era of the XVIIth century, a young impoverished baron named Sigognac takes in a troop of comedians and becomes infatuated with their leading lady, Isabelle. He ultimately ends up replacing a deceased actor and falls into a dangerous rivalry with the Duke of Vallombreuse over Isabelle’s affection. After a series of duels and dramatic revelations, Sigognac is able to marry Isabelle.
