The plot follows the true story of a Russian-Jewish peasant, Yakov Bok, who is wrongly imprisoned for a “ritual murder” of a Gentile child. We see Yakov’s resilience and dignity as he endures the attempts to humiliate and force a confession out of him while in prison.
