Movie Plot:

Maxime visits his father and his new wife, Renée, who had a stillborn child with Alexandre. Renée and Maxime have an affair, but when Alexandre confronts Maxime with the choice of marrying a wealthy banker’s daughter or running off with a now-penniless Renée, Maxime chooses the former. Renée returns from getting a divorce and attempts to kill herself, but ultimately joins the party and stays with Alexandre despite their loveless marriage and empty future.
