Movie Plot:

The plot revolves around a group of down-and-out tenants living in a tenement complex in medieval Japan. The landlords show no compassion for the tenants, who find some hope in the arrival of a mysterious elderly man and the tales he tells. Amidst this, an affair between the landlord’s wife and a thief causes jealousy and manipulation among the tenants.
