Plot for the movie:

Retired Professor Alexander Serebryakov moves back to his inherited estate with his young wife and causes tension with the other residents, including his brother-in-law and daughter. As the professor’s pompous nature and the presence of his beautiful wife stir up conflicts and unrequited love, things come to a head when he announces plans to sell the estate, leading to an attempted murder.
